Local Rules

1. OUT OF BOUNDS
Is defined as
a). In ditches, over hedges and by the inside edge of fences at ground level which bound the course.
b). The inside edge of white posts at ground level to the right hand side of the 1st, 2nd, and 9th holes.
c). The inside edge of white posts at ground level and the inside edge of the tree trunks which separate the 4th and 5th holes when playing the 4th, measured 12” from ground level.
d). On or over the footpath leading from the Green Keepers Sheds to the Professional’s shop, to the left hand side of the 9th hole.
e). The inside edge of the net retaining posts at ground level to the left hand side of the 10th hole.
f). The inside edge of the white posts at ground level to the left hand side of the 8th and 12th holes.
g). The putting green and chipping area and gardens and paths surrounding the Professionals shop and Clubhouse.

2. OUT OF BOUNDS POSTS – 5th HOLE
The white posts which define the Out of Bounds when playing the 4th hole are to be treated as immovable obstructions when playing the 5th hole.

3. AERATION HOLES
If a ball comes to rest on an aeration hole the player may with agreement from his playing partner, or marker, without penalty, mark their ball, lift the ball and clean it. Through the green the player shall drop the ball as near as possible to where it lay, but not nearer the hole and within one club length. On the green the player shall place the ball at the nearest spot, not nearer the hole, that avoids the situation.

4. BUNKERS
Stones are classified as moveable obstructions and rule 24.1 applies.

5. SPRINKLERS
a. If a sprinkler head intervenes between a ball on the green and the hole, the ball may be marked, lifted and placed, without penalty, not nearer the hole, at the nearest point avoiding the intervention and rule 24.2 applies.
b. A ball lying off the green, but not in a hazard, within two club lengths of an intervening sprinkler, may be marked, lifted, cleaned and dropped as in [a] above.

6. MAIN AND WINTER GREENS
A ball lying on any green (main or temporary) which is not in play, must be marked, lifted and dropped without penalty, giving full relief from that green, but no nearer the hole and rule 25.3 applies.

7. TRACTOR MARKS
With the agreement of the opponent or marker, tractor marks may be treated as ground under repair and rule 25.1 applies.

8. STAKED TREES
Are to be treated as immovable obstructions and rule 24.2 applies.

9. WINTER RULES
When placing is permitted, notices will be exhibited. At such times a ball lying on any closely mown area, through the green, may be marked, lifted and cleaned and placed within a club length no nearer the hole, without penalty. After the ball has been placed it is in play and shall not be re-lifted. If the ball moves after being addressed by the player, the penalty shall be one stroke, rule 18.2 applies.

10. THROUGH THE GREEN
Closely mown through the green is defined as any area of the course cut to fairway length including paths through the rough. It does not include rough semi-rough or greens.

11. PLUGGED BALL IN THE ROUGH
A ball that is embodied in its own pitch mark in the ground, may be marked and lifted without penalty, cleaned and dropped as near as possible to where it lay but not nearer the hole

12. G.U.R.
All areas marked with white lines are defined as ground under repair. They are classed as compulsory dropping zones and play is prohibited from them.

13. 15th HOLE – LATERAL WATER HAZARD
When playing the 15th hole, the water to the left of the fairway is a lateral water hazard.

14. DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES [DMD[
Except when specified otherwise in the Competition Regulations, a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. If during a stipulated round, a player uses a DMD that is designed to affect his/her play [e.g.-gradient, temperature, wind speed etc.] the player is in breach of rule 14.3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether such an additional function is actually used.

15. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS – (Rule 24-2)
All artificial paths, tee markers, fixed sprinkler heads, steps, tee advertising and all display boards and signage, ball washers, course shelters, waste bins, course furniture, halfway house and all bridges.

PENALTY FOR BREACH OF LOCAL RULE
Match play, loss of hole. Stroke play, 2 strokes.
